The ACT Government is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and highly motivated persons for appointment as the Chair to the Sentence Administration Board.

The Sentence Administration Board plays a crucial role in the ACT’s criminal justice system. Appointment to the Sentence Administration Board is a unique opportunity to contribute to the administration of offender management in the ACT.

Specifically, the Sentence Administration Board is responsible for critical aspects of parole, periodic detention and release on licence in accordance with the Crimes (Sentence Administration) Act 2005.

Board members are required to have high standards of integrity, impartiality and objectivity, as well as a sound understanding of administrative law principles.  In addition, the Chair of the Sentence Administration Board is a judicial position and applicants must be judicially qualified.

The Board sits one day a week in Canberra.  Appointments to the Board are for a period of up to three years and remuneration is in accordance with ACT Remuneration Tribunal determinations.

Expressions of Interest are invited from appropriately qualified professionals detailing qualifications and experience and addressing the selection criteria.
