Looking for challenge, variety and opportunity to contribute to an organisation’s success by applying your expertise as a generalist HR practitioner?

The Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC) is the national council for fire, land management and emergency service authorities in Australia and New Zealand.

AFAC supports the sector to create safer, more resilient communities and represents 32 member organisations, comprising permanent, part-time personnel and volunteers, totalling over 250,000 firefighters and emergency workers.  It engages with members through a collaboration model as well as event facilitation, professional development and influencing regulations and standards.

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the Director Workforce Development, this hands-on role provides an ideal forum to contribute to the achievement of AFAC’s purpose and values by effectively managing HR and ensuring the relevant level of resourcing is in place to achieve organisational goals and objectives. The role is responsible for the breadth of HR activities across recruitment, staffing, development, policies, safety and health.  It also includes representation on and facilitation of the national Mental Health & Wellbeing Group which involves managing external stakeholders, award presentations and overseeing related events.

This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated, results-oriented professional seeking to make a genuine and valuable contribution as part of a friendly, proactive team.  Tertiary qualified in HR, you bring a solid reputation as a trusted business partner across the range of HR activities, well-developed communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, resilience, a strong sense of confidentiality and the capacity to influence and negotiate across all levels.  Sound like you?
