Natural Hazards Research Australia is being established as a world-leading research centre for natural hazard resilience and disaster risk reduction. It will be one of Australia’s largest repositories of research data, products and applications aimed at mitigating the occurrence and severity of natural hazards and natural disasters. It will build on current research into bushfires and natural hazards including the work of the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre and its predecessor, the Bushfire CRC.
This key leadership appointment is critical to the success of the Centre. Working closely with the CEO, executive leadership team, end-users and research partners it has accountability for the delivery of the Centre’s research operations throughout Australia. This includes managing the Research Services Team and Node Research Managers along with stakeholder engagement, education and training, and delivery of the biennial research plan. Location is open as the Centre has no formal head office and will operate through nodes in the states and territories.
The role will appeal to an experienced professional with a demonstrated track record across all aspects of the initiation, negotiation and management tracking of research programs or project portfolios. Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline, ideally to postgraduate level, you bring a high degree of personal drive and integrity, well-developed relationship and networking skills up to CEO and Board level, sound political awareness, strong leadership and communication, and the capacity to achieve results within a dynamic forward-thinking organisation.
