gunaikurnai traditional owner land management board

  • contribute to achieving meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal people
  • build positive relationships
  • make your mark

Looking to make your mark, contribute to the achievement of meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal people, support a Board and build positive relationships?

The key function of the Gunaikurnai Traditional Owner Land Management Board (GKTOLMB) is to work with Gippsland’s Gunaikurnai people and the Victorian Government to set and guide the partnership for joint management of 10 parks and reserves in Gippsland.  The four key themes of this joint management plan centre around people, culture, country and working together.

Based in Bairnsdale, the role will work with the Board to provide strategic guidance and advice on employment and economic development opportunities; drive and maintain enduring and effective relationships with key partners and stakeholders; monitor and evaluate the outcomes of joint management; and provide advice and oversight on GKTOLMB funded projects.

This unique opportunity provides plenty of scope to build on what has already been achieved.  It will appeal to a highly motivated and culturally sensitive person with a strong understanding of Aboriginal people’s cultural diversity and heritage.  Ideally, your experience will be in land or natural resource management environments where you have worked with and supported a Board.  Your well-developed people, communication, negotiation and project management skills, capacity to work autonomously, sound political acumen, and genuine passion for making a difference will guarantee your success. Sound like you?
